Bookbinding Workshops for Teens and Adults
Saturday 6th October 10.30am - 4pm
A creative afternoon of printing and bookbinding inspired by being beside the sea! Learn the techniques required to create your own A6 decorative book, which makes for a great journal, sketchbook or photo album - an ideal personal project or gift for someone special. First up we'll take some inspiration from the seaside surroundings and make a set of stamps, which could include shells, seaweed, ships and anchors (or whatever catches your eye) - quick to make but very effective. We'll use these stamps to hand-print a range of papers to cover a our book covers and create a range of patterned pages. Next up you'll learn how to bind your book together with a decorative exposed V stitch. Leave the workshop with your own set of original seaside stamps (that you can use again and again), a unique book to keep or give as a gift, and the skills to make many more! All materials and equipment is provided. Bookbinding beginners welcome! Tea and coffee will be provided as well as instructions to take away with you so that you can make more books at home. No previous bookbinding experience required. |
