Kids Art Block 2025All about the Bees! Fridays 3.30pm - 5pm Suitable for kids now in P3 - P7/S1 Next block starts: Fri 2nd May - Fri 30th May 2025. In this next block we are going to be celebrating Bees! We are delighted to be sponsoring two hives with Mains Apiaries, based just over the water in Fife and of course with a name like Honey Pot - it makes perfect sense! A few weeks ago our art class kids helped to decorate one of our hives, ready to go out into the field. 2nd May: Clay Bees We'll be hand making as many bees as we can ready to be fired. 9th May: Watercolour Bees Using seeded paper we'll be painting watercolour bees. 16th May: Painting and glazing. Our bees will have been bisque fired and ready for painting and glazing. 23rd May: Bee Canvas. Kids will paint an A3 canvas, using acrylics, pastels and inks. 30th May: Finishing Any art work will be finished and completed getting ready for selling their art! At the end of the block, Honey Pot along with other local artists and makers will be taking part in the 'Forth Bridges Creative Trail' and we will have an exhibition of our art made during this block on the weekend of the 31st May-1st June. If kids would like to, they can sell their art work, with all proceeds going to the Bumble Bee Conservation Trust. This is voluntary. *any parents/kids who might be available to help with their exhibition over the weekend would be welcome :) Finally, one of the fridays in June (6th or 13th) we'll be able to visit our hives on site and see out Bees - so excited! Kids will need to have a parent with them. |
We have been running our Friday afternoon Kids Art block for several years and have introduced our young artists to various mediums, techniques and different artists.
"I firmly believe that creativity and having the courage and opportunity to express yourself through whatever medium you can - is absolutely essential to help build confidence, personal growth and sense of achievement - even if you hate it - the important thing is to have a go and not be afraid to make mistakes!" - Juliet |
