Kids Art BlocksFridays 3.30pm - 5pm Suitable for kids now in P3 - P7/S1 Friday 17th Jan - Friday 14th February 5 week block We will be encouraging our artists to look at the use of light and line in their art. Taking inspiration from one of the great artists JMW Turner, known as the "Painter of Light'. Friday 17th Jan Basic watercolour techniques. Friday 24th Jan - Afternoon excursion. I have booked for us to visit the National Portait Gallery on Princess Street for a chance to see the once in a lifetime exhibition of JMW Turner paintings which are on loan from the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin for the month of January only. We will take the train from Dalmeny to Waverley aiming to arrive for 3pm. Our Art Kids must be accompanied by an adult. Please confirm week 1 if you will be joining us. (The exhibition is available until end Jan so plenty of time to go if you can't make it on this date. Don't worry we'll have online resources available if kids can't come in person). Friday 31st January Art class kids will us watercolours to recreate a version of their favourite painting, based on paintings they saw in the gallery or online if they can't join us in the previous week. Friday 7th February We will use the wonderful view from our window to start to compose and create the washes to paint their own Turner inspired view over the Firth of Forth. Friday 14th February Art class kids will add final details and colour to their Firth of Forth Paintings. Also Now Available to book: Our next block will start on Friday 28th February - Friday 28th March. This will be an exploration of the pottery and distinct decoration styles of the Ancient Minoan Civilisation, using ancient techniques to decorate several vessels which kids will handmake from clay. |
We have been running our Friday afternoon Kids Art block for several years and have introduced our young artists to various mediums, techniques and different artists.
