Felted Fleece Rug Making Sat 11th Jan 2025 SOLD OUT 11am - 3/3.30pm £65 per head We are delighted to welcoming Trish O’Meara, from Wormit Woolies in Fife, to our studio in the New Year.
Trish is a local fibre artist specializing in making hand felted rugs, decorative wall hangings and more, using mainly locally sourced, natural raw fleece. As she lives on a small holding, her interest in felting came from owning sheep and wanting to find ways to use and recycle the fleece in both a practical and meaningful way. In this workshop you will learn the ancient craft of wet felting and create your very own one of a kind felted fleece rug/throw, from the fleece of a living sheep. This is a practical workshop but you’ll also get loads of theory along the way. Come prepared for an upper body workout and wear your oldest clothes as felting can be splashy, messy and physically demanding. You will be provided with a plastic apron along with everything else needed to create your very own one of a kind felted rug/throw.
Each participant will need to bring along a couple of large, preferably old towels and a bag to carry your damp rug home in. Minimum age is 16 and no previous experience necessary.
This would make a unique Christmas gift for that hard to buy for person or a fun day out with friends or family.
Lunch and refreshments throughout the day will be provided.
