Felted Fleece Rug Making Sat 11th Jan 2025 (sold out) 11am - 3/3.30pm £65 per head We are delighted to welcoming Trish O’Meara, from Wormit Woolies in Fife, to our studio in the New Year.
Trish is a local fibre artist specializing in making hand felted rugs, decorative wall hangings and more, using mainly locally sourced, natural raw fleece. As she lives on a small holding, her interest in felting came from owning sheep and wanting to find ways to use and recycle the fleece in both a practical and meaningful way. In this workshop you will learn the ancient craft of wet felting and create your very own one of a kind felted fleece rug/throw, from the fleece of a living sheep. This is a practical workshop but you’ll also get loads of theory along the way. Come prepared for an upper body workout and wear your oldest clothes as felting can be splashy, messy and physically demanding. You will be provided with a plastic apron along with everything else needed to create your very own one of a kind felted rug/throw.
Each participant will need to bring along a couple of large, preferably old towels and a bag to carry your damp rug home in.
NB: We will be outside for some of the day as your fleece will be rinsed using cold water. Please wear layers and possibye bring a spare set as we can't predict what the weather will be like on the day and don't want to you get cold!
Lunch and refreshments throughout the day will be provided.
