Image Transfer on Clay with Donna Bloye
Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th June
at Honey Pot Creative in South Queensferry, Edinburgh
We can't wait!
Join us for a two day Master class with Donna Bloye, winner of the Great Pottery Throwdown 2024
You'll focus on different methods of transferring images on to the clay surface and understand ways of developing these into small scale production work. Using the methods taught during the workshop an emphasis will be placed on decoration becoming an intrinsic part of the creative and making process rather than something that is considered only after a piece has been bisque fired. By the end of the course each participant will have developed an understanding of how to use screen printing ‘inks’ using underglazes, how to create slips for transferring images using the mono-printing technique, how to create different types of screens for printing, how to create a mono-print on clay and how to layer imagery using screen printing techniques. We will work with both stoneware clay and Flax paper porcelain to create hand-built pieces that are decorated prior to firing.
What to bring: All tools and clay will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own favourite tools and apron, plus a notebook and pen.
Please Note: Printed or hand drawn images that you would like to expose a screen from – Images need to be printed using a Laser printer or photocopied on to acetate (2 copies of the same image for screen exposure) *Please note that inkjet printed images will not work. (Attendees are welcome to send their imagery to oto.ni.pottery@outlook .com for me to print at least two weeks prior to the course start date)
Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
Timings: 10am – 4pm Saturday & Sunday
Level: Intermediate
Clay type: Stoneware and Flax paper porcelain.
